In response to the leaked letter from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Secretary General Barry Otieno, Murang’a Seal Chairman Robert Macharia has issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding the attendance of Vice Chairman Hussein Mohammed at the FKF Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Macharia begins by reaffirming Murang’a Seal’s decision to appoint Hussein Mohammed as their representative at the AGM, slated for March 16, 2024. He asserts that the FKF CEO’s decision to declare Hussein Mohammed ineligible is in direct violation of the FKF Constitution and undermines Murang’a Seal’s rights as a member club.

According to Macharia, the FKF Constitution clearly outlines the independence of members and their bodies, stating that “each member shall manage its affairs independently and with no influence from third parties.” He emphasizes that the decision of who represents Murang’a Seal at the AGM lies solely with the club, as explicitly provided for in the FKF Constitution.

Quoting relevant provisions of the FKF Constitution, Macharia highlights Murang’a Seal’s status as a duly registered member of the FKF and the club’s right to participate in the General Assembly, including the appointment of delegates to represent them.

Macharia condemns what he describes as “persistent intimidation of delegates” by the FKF, aimed at silencing dissenting voices within the football community. He warns against allowing such intimidation tactics to undermine the democratic principles enshrined in the FKF Constitution and the universal values of football.

In conclusion, Macharia reiterates Murang’a Seal’s stance that Hussein Mohammed will indeed represent the club at the upcoming FKF AGM, despite the attempts by the FKF CEO to bar him from attending.

The statement underscores Murang’a Seal’s commitment to upholding the principles of fairness, transparency, and independence within the FKF, while also advocating for the rights of its members to participate fully in the decision-making processes of the federation.
