Gor Mahia went top of the Sportpesa League following a convincing 4-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks in a rescheduled game staged at the MISC Kasarani on Tuesday 6, January 2026.
With two wins the entire campaign, it was clear that Sharks had to produce something magical if they were to topple Gor who had beaten them in the last six encounters.

While much of the pre-match talk from Gor side having been centred on the departure of talismanic midfielder Austin Odhiambo to Lebanon, the Kenyan giants looked unshaken when they took the lead in the 19th minute through Stanley Omondi.
A cross by Bryton Onyona was half cleared by the Sharks defence and with the ball falling invitingly for Stanley, the former Migori Youth player wasted no chance in sending a pile driver that sailed past Collins Omondi in the Sharks goal.
Sharks had done well to contain pressure from their visitors but were breached once again at the stroke of half time when a long floated ball from the Gor defence escaped them only to fall for Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw who wade off his marker, lobbed the ball past the onrushing keeper before slotting into the empty net.
Sharks were never going to take things lying down and pulled a goal back ten minutes after resumption through Humphrey Aroko’s individual brilliance; the Kenya U20 internation beating a series of Gor Mahia players before slotting past Bryne Omondi in the Gor goal.

While Sharks were looking for an equalizer, Gor was to deflate their momentum when Samuel Kapen restored Gor’s two goal lead with an acrobatic goal after the visitor had played a short corner that fell to him after the Sharks defence failed to clear a floated ball.
Substitute Felix Oluoch put the gloss on the scores with a fourth goal five minutes from time to put the game beyond the William Muluya coached side.
With Gor now on top of the table, attention for them now shifts to their next game away to Shabana with Sharks hoping that they can change their fortunes in their next tie against Posta Rangers.
