Manchester United have been handed a potential boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies as the Canadian international enters the final stretch of his contract with the German giants.

With Davies’ current deal set to expire in the summer of 2025, speculation surrounding his future has intensified. Despite receiving a new contract offer from Bayern, the 22-year-old remains open to exploring other options.

According to reports from German outlet BILD, Bayern have already begun compiling a shortlist of potential replacements for Davies, acknowledging the possibility of his departure. This proactive approach suggests the club braces itself for a potential bidding war.

While United have yet to engage in negotiations with Davies’ representatives formally, the Red Devils are closely monitoring the situation. The club is reportedly awaiting clarity on Ruben Amorim’s January transfer plans before making a decisive move for the talented defender.

However, should Amorim’s plans not materialize or if the club decides to prioritize other targets, United could intensify their pursuit of Davies. The Old Trafford hierarchy has long admired the Canadian international, and his versatility and attacking prowess make him an ideal fit for Erik ten Hag’s system.

Real Madrid are also keeping a close eye on Davies’ situation, further highlighting the intense competition for his signature. However, the player himself has remained focused on the present, dismissing speculation about his future.

“As of now, my full focus is to stay healthy and to play the game with the club I’m with right now,” Davies stated last month. “I’m not focused on what’s going on in the future. I’m just focusing on staying healthy and helping my team win. My team makes me feel valued. The whole Bayern community make me feel valued. I see that each day.”

As the January transfer window approaches, the race for Davies’ signature is poised to heat up, with Manchester United emerging as a strong contender to secure the services of one of the most promising young defenders in world football.
