Cameroon made it to the quarterfinals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a hard fought 2-1 win over South Africa on Sunday evening.
South Africa were the impressive team in the earlier exchanges but having failed to capitalize on their dominance, Cameroon punished them in the 34th minute when right back Junior Tchamadeu arrived late in the box to finish confidently after sustained pressure.

With a 1-0 lead at the break, the Indomitable Lions struck a second just two minutes into second half through a Christian Kofane composed close-range effort following a swift transition.
Evidence Makgopa pulled a goal back for South Africa for a tense finish but Cameroon held on for a win that will see them take on hosts Morocco in the quarterfinals of the competition.
Morocco secured their quarterfinal berth after edging Tanzania 1-0 in another tightly contested encounter.
Other teams in the quarterfinals are Mali and Senegal who will face each other in another enticing clash to decide who will make it to the semi-finals of the competition.
