The FKF Premier League resumes this weekend with a six-match slate, kicking off a new chapter in the 2025 season. The highlight of the weekend will undoubtedly be the clash between title contenders Tusker FC and the high-flying Shabana FC at the Gusii Stadium on Saturday.
Tusker, currently trailing league leaders KCB by a slim margin, will be without their top scorer Ryan Ogam who is on international duty with Harambee Stars. However, coach Charles Okere will be confident of securing a victory against Tore Bobe, who have transformed the Gusii Stadium into an impregnable fortress after a shaky start to the season.
Elsewhere, Murang’a Seal will aim to extend their winning streak when they face struggling Bidco United at the Kenyatta Stadium on Sunday. Murang’a narrowly defeated Talanta in their previous outing, while Bidco suffered a 2-0 defeat to Sofapaka.
Talanta, making history as the first team in the league to appoint a female coach, will face Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday. Abana Abeingo, after a hard-fought draw against Kenya Police, will be eager to secure a victory against Juma’s side.
Sunday will also see a ‘slumboys‘ derby between Mathare United and Kariobangi Sharks at the Dandora Stadium. Mathare, coming off a crucial win against Shabana, will face a Sharks side reeling from a defeat to record champions Gor Mahia.
Nairobi City Stars will be looking to bounce back from their loss to Ulinzi Stars with a victory against bottom-placed Posta Rangers. The mailmen, struggling with just 11 points, recently parted ways with head coach Bernard Kawinzi.
Ulinzi Stars, buoyed by their win over Simba wa Nairobi, will face newbies Mara Sugar at the Dandora Stadium on Saturday. Mara Sugar, despite their recent 4-3 loss to KCB, have shown impressive resilience against the league’s top teams and will be a formidable opponent for the soldiers.
This weekend’s fixtures also include postponed matches involving Gor Mahia, Sofapaka, Kenya Police, and Bandari.
